summus laser for injured meniscus

Each knee has two menisci, one on the inner portion of the knee and one on the outside of the knee. Menisci serve as shock absorbers and space fillers in the knees. Injury or tears are very common occurrences. Injuries are caused by sudden stops while running, or twisting of the knee. In cases where a knee is arthritic, even simply bending down or kneeling can cause injury to a meniscus. Common symptoms of an injury to a meniscus include: pain with rotating the knee, knee “locking up”, pain and stiffness, swelling, and/or a feeling of your “knee giving away” while walking or running. Our class IV Summus laser has pre-programmed specific protocols to facilitate healing, decrease pain, and increase blood flow to an injured meniscus.
